Chris Evert defeated Hana Mandlíková, 6–3, 6–1, in the final to win the Women's Singles tennis title at the 1982 US Open. This would be Chris Evert's 6th US Open title, an Open Era record now shared with Serena Williams. Tracy Austin was the defending champion, but lost in the quarterfinals to Hana Mandlíková.
