1983 Wimbledon Championships – Women's Singles

Martina Navratilova successfully defended her title, defeating Andrea Jaeger in the final, 6–0, 6–3 to win the Ladies' Singles tennis title at the 1983 Wimbledon Championships.[1]

Billie Jean King became the oldest semifinalist at a Grand Slam event at 39 years, 7 months and 9 days old, an Open Era record. Chris Evert Lloyd's loss in the 3rd round broke her streak of 34 consecutive Grand Slam semi-finals. She had made the semifinals in her first 34 Grand Slam appearances between the 1971 US Open and the 1983 French Open.
