Abhay Chudasma

Abhay Chudasma (also written Chudasama) is an officer in the Indian Police Service. He graduated with the 1999 cadre.[1]

The CBI arrested Chudasama in April 2010 for involvement in the death of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.[2][3] CBI charged him for various activities, including collaborating with Sohrabuddin in operating a protection racket.[4] CBI identified Chuasma as providing the gun which Sohrabuddin had at the time of his death.[5]

He was in jail in Nadiad till 2013 in Mumbai till his release on bail in April 2014.[3]

In August 2014 the Gujarat Police reinstated Chudasma as an officer.[3] In April 2015 the court discharged Chudasama saying that there was no evidence against him.[6]

In June 2015 the Gujarat government promoted Chudasma to the rank of Deputy inspector general of police.[1]

In 2018 the brother of the deceased Sohrabuddin made a that CBI made a mistake in reporting is testimony, and that he had never accused Chudasma.[7]

In 2020 Chudasma transferred posts from Vadodara to Gandhinagar, leaving his former post to fellow officer H.G. Patel.[8]
