Antti Lieroinen

Antti Lieroinen (died 1643), was a famous Finnish cunning man. He was sentenced to death for witchcraft in Åbo and executed accused of witchcraft, murder of a man and adultery after having seduced a married woman.[1]

He was famous in contemporary Finland for his alleged ability to find stolen objects, and famed as a professional wizard (cunning man) long before his trial.[2] He belongs to the more well known of the victims of the Finnish witch trials.[3]

He is the subject of a play, a poem and an opera.[4]
