History

BCD Travel was founded on November 18, 2006, when BCD Group announced the acquisition of TQ3 Travel Solutions, the corporate arm of TUI Group and a majority interest in The Travel Company, an independent British corporate travel company.[4] These companies were merged with WorldTravel BTI, marking the end of the brand. BCD Travel, the new corporate identity for the consolidated companies, began trading under that name on March 31, 2006.[5]

In January 2011, the company merged five of its consumer brands, CheapTickets, Vliegwinkel, Flugladen, BudgetAir (Airtrade) and Vayama into a new group, Travix International B.V.[6]

In 2013, the company acquired TBiz, the corporate division of Travelocity.[7]
