He spent most of his childhood in Maryland Lagos where he attended Seat of wisdom primary school and Caleb secondary school before moving to surulere after his parent's divorced in 2005. Baaj is of Yoruba descent and is a native of Ijebu Ode local government area of Ogun State. He was brought up in a Christian home. His father is a mechanical engineer and his mum is an accountant and entrepreneur. He's the last of nine children from which are spread across previous marriages.[7]
A bulk of his school years were focused on academics as his parents were very keen on him getting a respectable formal education. Even at that he was very into sports and arts. Joined various sports teams like football, basketball, badminton, table tennis, track and field. Also joined the choir in church at a very young age thanks to his lovely singing voice and was a member of the arts club in school thanks to his exquisite painting and drawing skills. And one thing that was evident to everyone that knew him was his love for movies. Most of his spur for arts and sports were hampered due to his parent's divorce and the bright young man retreated into his shell for some of his teenage years but his film and acting obsession did not waver, instead it increased as that began to take most of his now available free time.[7]
He got admission into Covenant University Ogun State in 2005 to study economics and graduated with a second class upper in 2009. After graduating a lot of his time was dedicated to reigniting his arts and sports gifts which helped immensely in choosing what he wanted to do with his life. He worked in DSTV/GOTV for close to two years before eventually quitting to focus on his entertainment career fully.[7]
Career
Baaj Adebule started his acting and modelling career in 2010 while still working a nine to five job. He would go for auditions and dabble in little photoshoots in his free time. He eventually got a small stint on the telenovela Tinsel which helped him make the decision to quit and finally pursue his dream of being an Actor and Film Maker in 2011. With the support of his friends and family he contested in the prestigious Mr Nigeria pageant 2011 where he came 4th. And then started his Acting and Modelling career fully in 2012.[7]
He got cast in TV series like Secrets and Scandals, Happy Family alongside Zack Orji, Shola Shobowale, Victor Olaotan, etc. His dedication and pure talent started getting him noticed by the industry. He'd also go on to feature in a number of shows, TV commercials and fashion modelling editorials. By 2014 Baaj Adebule had begun making a name for himself as a new exciting young actor as he went on to star in films and TV series like Four Crooks and a Rookie, A Perfect Plan (Unreleased), Deadline, Studio and Lekki Wives.[7]
He made his big screen debut in 2015 in the multi award-winning action flick A Soldier's Story alongside Daniel K Daniel, Linda Ejiofor and a host of others. As well as the critically acclaimed Road to Yesterday alongside Genevieve Nnaji, ChiGurl, etc. Also in that year he began his film making career with his production company House of Baaj Pictures. His first production titled “Seeing Betrayal” written and directed by himself went on to win best short film in Africa 2015 at the Zafaa Global Awards.[7]
Baaj Adebule was on a roll as he set the industry ablaze with his mind blowing performance in arguably the biggest series to have ever come out of Nigeria “HUSH” which also starred Richard Mofe Damijo, Alex Osifo, Olu Jacobs and host of top actors. His portrayal of the character Adze made him a household name. And with that other top notch productions like 5ive, The Governor, Uncloaked, The Missing, Payday, Battleground Showdown to name a few helped cement his status as a top actor in the film industry. As a young, charismatic, passionate and multi-talented individual, Baaj Adebule is definitely one to keep both eyes on.[7]
