Bakshish Singh
Bakshish Singh (14 June 1928 – 21 September 1970) was an Indian hockey player who won the gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. He studied at Khalsa college, Amritsar. He served in Punjab police from 1948 to 1961. He was a hockey coach in Khalsa college Amritsar for 2 years. Hockey being the national game of India still is not cared much about. Or given much importance to. His wife, narinder Kaur Sandhu 80 years old stays in Chandigarh with her daughter and with no source of income to the old wife of the legend of his time. Government should provide the widows of the legends with pension. And make the national game truly one.[1]
