Amateur career
Caleb Plant took up boxing at the age of 8. He won the 2011 Golden Gloves in the light heavyweight division. Plant was an alternate for the 2012 Summer Olympics. As an amateur Caleb won numerous tournament titles while compiling a record of 97 wins with only 20 defeats.
Professional career
Plant turned pro in May 2014, signing with manager Al Haymon. Plant won 8 of his first 9 fights by way of knockout. He would get a shot at a world title in his 18th fight when he fought Venezuelan boxer José Uzcátegui. In the fight, he knocked Uzcátegui down twice en route to a unanimous decision win.[1]
In his first title defense, Caleb Plant faced Mike Lee. Lee was very vocal in the build up, even claiming that he is the "A-side". Plant made easy work out of Lee, dropping him four times, before the referee waved the fight off in the third round with 1:29 left on the clock.[2]
In his second title defense, Plant faced #3-ranked IBF contender, Vincent Feigenbutz.[3] Plant proved to be too much for the challenger, battering him and winning every round along the way. Feigenbutz managed to take a lot of punishment, but by the tenth round, the referee had seen enough and decided to stop the fight, awarding Plant a TKO victory.[4]
