He was elected College Republican National Chairman in 2007 on a platform of reform and promised a new internet strategy.[2] Smith, and the rest of the candidates on his slate, were all unopposed in those leadership election races. Since his election, Smith has revamped the CRNC website, created a new blog called The CR Voice, and instituted a new online social mobilization tool called "Storm." Following the completion of his term as chairman, Storm dismantled by the current College Republican National Chairman leadership after it received harsh criticism from the large majority of state federations.[3]
