Dance double
A dance double is a type of stunt double who steps in and performs the dangerous or physically difficult dance parts of a character's role in film or television.
These highly trained professionals provide their bodies, their dance technique, their physical expression and their artistry so that an actor/actress can play the role of a dancer convincingly.
The Black Swan dance double controversy concerns an American film and the credit its production gave to performers. Black Swan is a 2010 American psychological thriller film about a ballet dancer directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, and Mila Kunis. After the 83rd Academy Awards, in which Portman won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in the film as a ballerina, controversy arose over how much credit for the dancing in the film was being given to her and how much to her "dance double", American Ballet Theatre soloist Sarah Lane.[1]
