Tourism

Devala is a very scenic place with undulating tea estates and lush green villages. When it rains it pours here, that is the reason it is called the Cherrapunji of the south. There is no accommodation available in this little town. There are a few minuscule gold mines in and around Devala at Kaithakolly, Ponnur and Ponvayal villages. Devala has got a police station. Devala also has got many tea factories. Devala also shares its border with Kerala state (Marutha panchayath in Malappuram district)
