The 2013 redistribution of Carrum resulted in the removal of beachside suburbs from the electorate, and the extension of the seat into the western parts of the former seat of Cranbourne.[5] This reduced the Liberal margin from 2.0% to an estimated 0.3%, while removing the suburbs of Aspendale, Aspendale Gardens, Edithvale, Chelsea and Chelsea Heights to include Carrum Downs, Sandhurst, Skye and more of Seaford.
Donna embarked on the Kokoda trail in July 2013, initiating the ‘Bauer Kokoda Charity Challenge' and raising money for charities, Matt's Place and Pantry 5000, where she continues to volunteer.[6][7][8]
At the 2014 Victorian state election and while battling bowel cancer, Bauer won her primary vote, only losing narrowly by 0.7% after preferences to Labor's Sonya Kilkenny.[9][10][11][12]
Donna Bauer unsuccessfully contested the 2018 Victorian state election.[13]
