Elis Fischer
Gustaf Elis Fischer (13 January 1834 – 19 August 1889) was a Swedish lawyer, chief executive of Skandia[2] and politician who was Member of Parliament. He is in particular known for the Fischer-trial, in which he was accused of fraud and sentenced to prison.[3]

Personal life
Fischer was born in Askersund, a son of postmaster Per Gustaf Fischer,[5] and a brother of Emil Nicanor Fischer. He was married to Hildur Fredrika Abenius, daughter of Carl Fredrik Abenius, the circuit judge of the judicial district of Livgedinget.[6] Fischer grew up in Askersund and attended Askersund's elementary school.
Career
Fischer graduated from Uppsala University in 1854, and passed the court exams in 1859.
Fischer was the chief executive manager of Skandia. He became a member of the upper house of the Riksdag, in March 1886, representing the City of Stockholm, a position he held until he was accused of fraud in December 1886.[7]
Fischer-trial
The fraud was mentioned in more than 176 newspaper articles in December 1886. Fischer whom enjoyed a significant employment and an upper class income, surprised many of his fellows that he had commit a fraud. He was exposed when he had escaped the presentation of obligations he had received and sold.[8][9]
