Estrons were a Welsh alternative rock band from Cardiff, Wales. The band featured Tali Källström (vocals), Rhodri Daniel (guitar), Steffan Pringle (bass), and Adam Thomas (drums).[1]

History

The bands roots traced back to 2013 when Welsh-Canadian lead singer, Tali Källström, met guitarist Rhodri Daniel in Aberystwyth.[2] After meeting, the two began collaborating musically, which lead to the creation of "Estrons", which is Welsh for "misfits" or "strangers" or also "aliens". Daniel wrote their garage pop influenced single "Make A Man" while at a Berlin nightclub.[2] The second song of theirs "Drop" was written in a police cell after their first concert in Cardiff. This was following a romantic breakup Källström was going through.[2]

"Make a Man" was first released on the band's SoundCloud account on 25 September 2015,[3] while the music video came out on 3 November 2015.[4] On 4 December 2015 the song was released as a single.[5]

"Drop", the band's second single came out on the band's SoundCloud on 7 April 2016. The song was another written while Källström was in prison.[6] "Drop" was released as a standalone single on 5 May 2016.[7]

On 3 November 2016, about a year following their debut single, Estrons released their debut extended play, She's Here Now.[8] The E.P. was described by Noisey as "blistering", and that the songs "don't skirt around their topics—they dive into them head first like a rugby player hurtling towards a kebab shop".[9]

A year later, Estrons released their third single, "Strobe Lights" on 8 April 2017. The music video was released on their Vevo page on 5 June 2017.[10] The song was considered a "back to the basics" track by DIY magazine.[11] The year concluded with the band opening for Honeyblood on their tour.[11]

In 2018, the band released three singles ahead of the debut album: "Lilac", "Cameras", and "Body". You Say I'm Too Much, I Say You're Not Enough was released on 5 October 2018 through Goford Records to little attention from the major music press. [12][13][14]

After six years, on 20 February 2019, the band announced that they were disbanding ahead of a UK headline tour which was consequently cancelled.[15] [16]
