Franc Weerwind
Franciscus Max "Franc" Weerwind (born 22 September 1964) is a Dutch politician of the Democrats 66 (D66). He has been the Mayor of Almere since September 2015.

Biography
Weerwind was born in Amsterdam, of Surinamese descent. He grew up in Nieuw-Vennep, and followed his studies in Public Administration at Leiden in 1987, where he joined the student association; at the same time as the then Crown Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. In 2000, he became deputy city manager of Leiderdorp and a year later he became city manager of Wormerland. In late 2004, he was appointed mayor of the municipality of Niedorp and from 16 September 2009 until 2015 he was the mayor of Velsen.[1] Since September 2015, he is the mayor of Almere.[2]
