Ghara (Ne:घार ) village lies in Annapurna R.M of Nepal, in the north part of the Myagdi district. The population of around 2500 consists mainly of the Magar ethnic group, and is surrounded by similar villages such as: Khibang, Ghorepani, Phalate, Shikha, Swata and Paudwar, It is situated at an altitude of 1750 meters and connected to the district headquarters of Beni Bazar, approximately 90 km NW from Pokhara, by a rough agricultural road. The village consists of picturesque rustic houses with stone walls and roofs. It is most notable for being part of the Annapurna trekking trail, on Annapurna Circuit Trail, (Ghorepani - Poon Hill - Tatopan-i - Muktinath Trek).

Ethnic Groups

The Ghara Village major ethnic group are Chhetries (Khadaka, Baruwal, Karki, Bhandari, Khatri), and second majority is the backward ethnic group Nepali, Pariyar (Damaai) (Sweingman & Folk musician) Bishwokarma (Kaami),(IronSmith) and Sunuwar Goldsmith, beside this a couple of the Brahmin, and some of the house of Magar. The village has wide area covers from sea level approx 1100 masl to almost 1900 masl. With the 400 house hold and with population about 1900 people. The Ghara Village has also the couple Households of Brahman Ethnic Group & the Thakali Ethnic and Magar Ethnic Group. Even though there is very very minority presence of these ethnic group, their role in this village cannot be ignored.

The Village Ghara was first initiated to establish the school for the education people in this area was first primary school and later High School, till decades years ago it was the only the High School in this area among the villages. Was the centre of the education Hub where from different 8 villages the students gathered to study here in Eight Class( Grade 8) after they complete the Lower Middle School (Grade Seven).

Economy

The Main Occupation is agriculture, Some worked in Nepalese Army, Indian Army and British. However nowadays young adult going to work overseas countries especially in Gulf countries and few some of them to the other developed country such as Japan, Korea, and USA.The income of the manpower earnings .has been becoming the major economic backbone of this village. Very few of the people has been an opportunity to involved in Government Job such as School teacher, and few of people are in taking the challenges to be Local entrepreneur, such as Cow Cheese Production. And Orange The village consists one Campus affiliated to the Tribhuvan University and a Secondary School, "Shree Mukti Marga Secondary School", and the three Basic School, Shree Bhuwani Basic School ,Shree Pokhara Basic School, and Turture Basic School . beside this two children development centers also for small children.

Geography

The village has the scenic beauty that by the blessing of the three some white mountain Peak.., Mount Dhaulagiri (8,091 m), Dhampus peak, Mt Nilgiri (7,061 m), Mt Annapurna I (8,091 m), Mt Annapurna South (7,219 m), Mt Baraha Shikhar (7,654 m). The village rich in its specific culture and tradition of chhetries..and other marginalised backwards ethnic group in the Annapurna Trekking circuit trail. As this is the only one village in the region with the Aryan racial people inhabited.

Having geographical diversity, it is the rich in the flora and fauna.., as well have opportunity to see different birds and animals.., The village rich in the some of the heritages.. such as temples … The Village has Narsingha Bhagawan Temple on the top of the Village while there is the Mahadev Temple in the bottom of the village, The Other temple is Baraha Sthan GadePani the worshiping the Kuldeuta by the Khadkas and Baruwals, and bhandaries , Khatries cheetries are also a long historic the long practice tradition… Is great importance .. for the Deautas the Khadka Kuldeuta Temple, Baruwal Kuldeuta Temple, , are also an Important temple, Beside in the hill of the North the White Bhairav temple similarly beautiful specially its location. The other Cave temple is the Siddha Sthan " is the lies in Baisari ..has the Hudge Tree and the cave the legend ( story ) also interesting and mysterious to hear from the Local. The chhetries migration into this area date has been not recorded exactly however before the union of the modern Nepal here was a small kingdom .its date back to more than 350 years before.
