Goh Chui Ling
[1]Goh Chui Ling (born 27 November 1992) is an national track and field athlete from Singapore. She specialises in sprints and hurdles. Chui Ling currently holds the national record for 4x400m Women.[2][3]
Chui Ling is also a lawyer with Edmond Pereira Law Corporation.[4] Chui Ling graduated from the Faculty of Law from the National University of Singapore in 2016,[5] and she was called as an Advocate & Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Singapore in 2017. When she was pursuing her L.L.B. in National University of Singapore, she was a recipient of the NUS Sports Scholarship.[6]
Early career
Chui Ling started track and field training when she was 13 years old, when she was pursuing her Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level at Macpherson Secondary School. She chose track and field because her two older sisters were also competing in track and field events.
Chui Ling started as a high jumper in Secondary School. She won the Gold Medal at the inaugural National Track and Field Championship in 2008, in the High Jump Event.[7] Chui Ling participated in the High Jump event at the ASEAN Schools Track and Field Championship in 2008, in Danang, Vietnam. She then proceeded on to pursue both High Jump and Sprints in Hwa Chong Junior College and National University of Singapore.[8]
Chui Ling was invited to the national senior squad in 2013, and participated in the 400m event, at the South-East Asian Games 2013, in Naypyidaw, Myanmar.[9] She proceeded to compete at other major games, such as Asian Games 2014 (Incheon, Korean), South-East Asian Games 2015 (Singapore, Singapore), ASEAN University Games 2016 (Singapore, Singapore), Asian Athletics Championship 2017 (Bhubaneswar, India), and South-East Asian Games 2017 (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). At the South-East Asian Games 2015 in Singapore, Chui Ling - together with Dipna Lim Prasad, T. Piriyah, and Veronica Shanti Pereira - broke the 41-year-old 4x400m record.[10]
Chui Ling is a lawyer with Edmond Pereira Law Corporation, specialising in civil and criminal litigation. She has been involved in criminal cases, involving corruption, cheating, and even breach of international sanctions.[4] Notably, Chui Ling assisted Edmond Pereira as he went before a three-judge High Court panel in 2017, which overturned the State Court’s decision in a high-profile criminal case involving the breach of sanctions under the United Nations (Sanctions – Democratic Republic of Korea) Regulations 2010. Chui Ling is involved in regulatory work involving international sanctions[11] and high-profile civil litigation at the Court of Appeal of Singapore.[12]

While Chui Ling specialises in sprints and hurdles, she has competed in many of the Athletics events due to her versatility.
