Haileybury International School
Haileybury International School Tianjin (known internally as HIST) is a Chinese educational institution operated by Haileybury College.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] The school is the first sister school of Haileybury College in Wuqing, China just outside Beijing.[8]
Overview
The school was established in 2013 as the first international campus by Haileyburg College[9] The majority of students are Chinese locals and exchange students from Melbourne, with an annual capacity of 1,200 students.[10] There are approximately 85 teachers at the school including 30 full-time expatriate teachers, 55 full-time bilingual teachers of Chinese nationality, 14 of whom hold degrees from universities outside of China. Thirty-six teachers master's and doctoral degrees, accounting for 42% of all teaching staff employed. The student-to-teacher ratio is usually around 8:1.[11]
Public and semi-public spaces of different sizes are scattered around the school campus in what the school describes as a "relaxed and comfortable environment".[12]
Controversy
Two teachers formerly employed by Haileybury College brought a lawsuit against it in 2016 for various claims, including assault and deception of a VCE auditor.[13]
