Heather Parry

Heather Parry (born 1971) is a television and film producer. She is best known for Pixels (2015), The House Bunny (2008) and A Star Is Born (2018).[1][2]

Background and early career

Heather Parry grew up in Macungie, Pennsylvania. She attended and graduated from Emmaus High School in Emmaus, Pennsylvania in 1989.[3] Parry graduated from Colorado State University at Fort Collins, Colorado. While a graduate student at the Colorado State University, Parry began her career in the entertainment industry with an internship on The Dennis Miller Show.[4]

Career

MTV (1993–2005)

Parry was the West Coast Bureau Chief for MTV News. She co-produced Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and Adam Sandler's The Longest Yard for MTV Films.

Happy Madison Productions (2005–2015)

As head of film development and production at Sandler's company, Parry produced four critically panned movies, beginning with The House Bunny (2008), followed by Sandler's Just Go with It (2011), That's My Boy (2012), and Pixels (2015).

Live Nation Productions (2015–2019)

In December 2015, Heather Parry was named the president of production for film and television at Live Nation. At Live Nation, Parry oversaw the production of four documentaries: Eagles of Death Metal: Nos Amis (Our Friends), Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story, Gaga: Five Foot Two, and Believer.

Awards and recognition
  • Believer has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Arts and Culture Documentary. In addition, it also won for Best Documentary at the 30th annual GLAAD Media Awards.[5][6]
  • In 2018, Heather received Hermes Platinum Award for documentaries: Can't Stop, Won't Stop: A Bad Boy Story (2017), which she shared with Daniel Kaufman (director) and Sean 'Diddy' Combs (producer), and Gaga: Five Foot Two (2017), shared with Chris Moukarbel (director), Lady Gaga (producer) and Bobby Campbell (producer).[7][8][9]
  • Heather was a producer on Can’t Stop Won’t Stop: A Bad Boy Story, which won Hollywood Documentary Award at the Hollywood Film Awards in 2017.[10]
  • Heather Parry was also an Executive Producer (representing Live Nation Productions) on the movie A Star is Born, which received numerous accolades and nominations[11]

Controversy

Parry was put on leave in December 2018 following the publication of an exposé written by Variety, the result of a four-month long investigation into discriminatory workplace abuse & verbal harassment toward employees.[12] As a result, Live Nation hired an outside firm, Paul Hastings LLP, to conduct an internal investigation.[13] On February 21, 2019, Heather Parry was fired from Live Nation Productions.[14][15]
