Early life
Michael Ian Olmo was born on March 25, 1999 in the Arecibo area of Puerto Rico to Tommy and Anabelle Olmo.[1] He moved to Corpus Christi, Texas at a young age, where he spent most of his early life. Spanish was his first language, however he easily picked up an American accent. He once stated he would consider crossing over into Latin music. His parents were strict and if he was caught listening to foul music, he would be scolded. Iann's father served in the United States Navy, when Iann was a child.
Career
2017-2019: Career beginnings, record deal and Industry Plant
Olmo began his music career under the mononym stage name of "Olmo" and later by Lil Rock. On June 6, 2018, he released his mixtape "A Dance With The Devil" under Lil Rock. It was produced by notable record producer Nick Mira from Internet Money and was released on SoundCloud. It was since removed from the site after rebranding to "Iann Dior". In April 2019, Dior was signed to TenThousand Projects alongside Trippie Redd and 6ix9ine. Under his new stage name, he released the mixtape nothing's ever good enough on April 12, which contains features from PnB Rock and Bernard Jabs. In October, Dior announced his debut studio album Industry Plant on Twitter alongside it's November 8 release date and cover art. The album contains features from Trippie Redd, Gunna, POORSTACY and phem which was followed by 3 singles "Strings" featuring Gunna, "Darkside" featuring Travis Barker and "Gone Girl" featuring Trippie Redd.
2020-present: I'm Gone and collaborations
On June 12, 2020, Dior released his second mixtape "I'm Gone" which was followed by 2 singles "Sick and Tired" featuring Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker and "Prospect" featuring Lil Baby. Throughout the rest of 2020, Dior collaborated with Internet Money appearing on their debut compilation album B4 The Storm on the song "Lost Me" featuring Lil Mosey and Lil Skies. He later appeared on $NOT's second studio album Beautiful Havoc, DJ Scheme's debut studio album FAMILY, and Machine Gun Kelly's sixth studio album Tickets To My Downfall.
