A first-class writer, ...His high tenor vocals were at their best, in my view, when extracting every ounce of emotion from those slow, often almost unbearably sad ballads he specialized in. His first 45, "It's Not That Easy," is a marvelous example of this, with its minor-keyed bluesy feel. "
