Jack Perry (entrepreneur)
Jack Perry is the Founder and CEO of Syncbak,Inc., a media technology company, whose products and services power solutions for television broadcasters, including CBS All Access, Hulu, fuboTV and others.[1][2] Perry's SimpleSync technology is the first-ever OTT platform to integrate Nielsen measurement.[3]

In February 2018, PitchBook named Perry's streaming media company, Syncbak, Inc., the most valuable VC-backed company in Iowa at $100 million.[4]
Prior to founding Syncbak, Perry was CEO of Decisionmark Corp (1996-2009)[5] where he created Geneva, a subscriber authentication technology used by ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, DirecTV, Echostar and every local television station in the U.S. In 2000, Perry created and launched TitanTV.com, the first-ever web based electronic program guide with built-in DVR capabilities. He created his first software package, RunningCounts, in 1990. In 1995, Jack authored the "Group Calendaring and Scheduling" section of the book, GroupWare: Technology and Applications [6]
In 2004, along with FCC Chairman Michael Powell, Perry introduced AntennaSelector.com and CheckHD, online tools he created which were designed to help consumers migrate from analog to digital television C-SPAN Consumers and Digital Television. AntennaSelector.com is known today as antennaweb.org.
In 2011, at the CEA CES on the Hill event, Perry introduced the Syncbak OTT platform to assist over-the-air digital broadcasting to move to the Internet C-SPAN The Communicators at CES on the Hill 2011.
In early 2017, Perry announced that his company's OTT platform, SimpleSync, powers 2.5 million hours of live local TV programming and covers 90% of U.S. households across 161 markets.[7] In 2018, Perry announced that number had nearly tripled, thanks to high demand from vMVPDs.[8]
On September 7, 2017, in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Perry's op-ed on the importance of local news, In times of strife, local news matters more than ever, was published by Quartz.
In May 2018, Perry's company launched its inaugural TechFronts event, focusing on the future of OTT from a technical perspective.[9] During the event, Perry launched Syncbak's new direct-to-cosumer OTT app, SBTV.[10]

As the Coronavirus pandemic continued to impact daily life, Syncbak's SBTV platform debuted two new channels dedicated to keeping people informed on the issue. The COVID-19 channel was launched on March 26, 2020 and features aggregated news content, refreshed hourly, from local TV broadcasters across 115 markets. Weeks later, SBTV expanded its coverage of the pandemic with the launch of the Survivors and Heroes channel.

On September 1, 2020, Syncbak launched VUit, a centralized national streaming service of local television stations aiming to be the Netflix of live, local and free. The Wall Street Journal published the exclusive story, which was then picked up by several other media outlets [11] On December 1, 2020, Perry announced The Washington Post as a streaming partner [12] and introduced a dedicated Washington Post Live streaming channel that simulcasts the leading news organization's live programming and also provides viewers access to current and past content on-demand.
Awards
Perry was inducted into the Academy of Digital Television Pioneers and was nominated for an Academy Award (for Best Industry Leadership) in 2004.[13] He was elected to the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 2003 and was named one of Dealerscope's 40 most influential people under 40 in the consumer electronics industry that same year. In 2008, his TitanTV web studio won a Webby Award for Titan Greens, an edgy take on eco-news.
Education
Perry graduated from the University of Iowa in 1988. He attended Grand Rapids Junior College where he played hockey for two years. Perry graduated from Ottawa Hills High School (Michigan) where he ran cross country and played hockey. He was the captain of both teams.
Personal life
Perry was born on the Marine Corps Base in 29 Palms, California. He is a lifelong runner (completing 16 marathons) and an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Detroit Tigers.
In 2016 Perry and his wife Annette founded Perry Development Partners (PDP).[14] PDP is focused on developing properties in the historic uptown district of their hometown Marion, IA. In October 2019, they made their debut with West End Marion. The charming eatery is a hidden gem serving made-from-scratch café classics and family favorites. It anchors the historic brick building they beautifully transformed as part of their broader vision for the Marion block. Their son in-laws are Jay Borschel, undefeated 2010 NCAA Wrestling Champion for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes and Allen Reisner, former tight end for the Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars and the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.
