Jade Xu

Xu Huihui (徐慧慧, known professionally as Jade Xu) (born February 9, 1986) is a Chinese martial arts actress and multiple World Wushu Champion.

Early life

On February 9, 1986, Xu was born in Shanghai, China. Xu's mother was Xu Guan Guan, a Wushu style martial artist.[1] Xu moved with her family to Italy at the age of nine.[2][1]

Career

At age 6, Xu started training in Wushu style of martial arts. Competing for Italy, Xu was a medalist at the World Wushu Championships from 2003 to 2009.[1] She was the first athlete to win four gold medals at four consecutive championships. She competed in the 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament and placed first in gunshu with a 9.69 and second in daoshu, which earned her a silver medal in the combined event.[3] Her last major international competition was at the 2009 World Wushu Championships where she won a gold medal in gunshu and a silver medal in daoshu.

Xu then transitioned to acting, first staring as Sister Mahjong in Tai Chi 0 and Tai Chi Hero, and in the title role in the Chinese TV series The Legend of Wing Chun. In 2012, Xu was recruited to perform in Cirque du Soleil's Michael Jackson: One show,[2] in which she plays one of the four central characters.[1]

Xu is a Wushu trainer. On September 30, 2018, Xu held a Wushu workshop "Flying Front Kick" in Las Vegas, Nevada.[4]

Personal life

Xu is married to David Torok, a fellow wushu competitor.[1] They both reside in the United States.
