Jasmin Walia

Jasmin Walia (born 23 May 1995) is a British Asian singer, actress, composer and TV personality. Originally of South Asian descent, she has released songs in English, Punjabi and Hindi languages. In 2017, her single "Bom Diggy" with Zack Knight peaked at number one on the BBC Asian Network's Official Asian Music Chart. It has over 424 million combined streams, becoming the biggest British Asian single of the last 5 years.[1][2] She was nominated for Mirchi Music Award for Upcoming Female Vocalist of The Year at the 11th Mirchi Music Awards for the song "Bom Diggy". The song was also nominated for Mirchi Music Award for Song of The Year.[3]

Early life

Jasmin was born in London.[1] At the age of 10, she started attending theatre school. In 2010, she rose to prominence with the British television series The Only Way Is Essex. She was initially taken as an extra cast but later got promoted to a full cast member in 2012.[4]

In 2015, she appeared in British television show Desi Rascals.

She debuted in Bollywood with the song "Bom Diggy" in the 2018 film Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. The song peaked at number one on the Indian pop charts for several weeks.[5][4][6]

She played Princess Jasmine in the theatre show Aladdin, produced by Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.[4]
