Jim George (author)

Jim George is an American author of 37 books.[2] He has co-authored 14 books, many with his wife Elizabeth George.[3][4] He is a two-time finalist for the Gold Medallion Book Award.

Early life

George was born in Columbus, Kansas on May 14, 1943 to Preston George and Lois Onesti. His parents are both deceased.

George graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 1966 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy. He earned his Master of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology in the late 70's. He received his Master of Theology from Talbot School of Theology in early 80's.[5]

In 1966, Jim joined the United States Army Reserve as a Combat Medic private. He retired from US Army Reserves as a Major in medical service corps in 1999. George also worked as a Pharmacist in Westwood, California at Wadsworth Veterans Affairs Hospital. George has been a Pastor and seminary professor for over 25 years.

Publications

George released his first book, A Man After God's Own Heart in 2002 and debuted at #17 on the top 50 religious books for the ECPA Christian Book Award best sellers list.[1] In 2011, the book reached #15 on CBA's Christian Living list. This book has sold over 300,000 copies since its release.

Since then, George has published several other books including A Husband After God's Own Heart and A Young Man After God's Own Heart, which were selected by CBA as Gold Medallion Book Award finalist. A Young Man After God's Own Heart peaked at #6 on CBA's Young Adult book list in 2012.[5]

George's most recent book, A Dad After God's Own Heart, was published on April 1, 2014. To date, Jim has sold over 1 million books worldwide.

For several of Jim's publications, he later wrote study guides and devotionals.[6]

Personal life

In 1965, Jim married Elizabeth White in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. The couple met while attending The University of Oklahoma. Elizabeth is an author, speaker, and woman's Bible teacher.[5] They have two children, Katherine and Courtney.[8]
