Electric-bus proposal
The Indian government think tank NITI Aayog has proposed the introduction of electric low-floor, air-conditioned city buses by 2020.[3]
In order to run electric buses, the administration should ensure these points for their free and smooth run:
- Ensure that traffic lights work properly and traffic rules being followed at crossroads
- Don't allow autos/private buses to fill passangers by parking in middle of roads
- Ensure that no vehicle comes from wrong side and impose strict challan system on them
- Only allow U-Turn from crossroads and ensure that no cut is made on divider
- Don't allow E Rickshaw/Tempos and Rickshaws on roads where buses are plying
- Ensure that slow vehicles like bikes and autos drive on extreme left
