Kitirik

Kitirik was a children's television character portrayed by Bunny Orsak. The eponymous show was broadcast on Houston ABC affiliate KTRK-TV from 1954 to 1971.[1]

In 1954 KTRK/channel 13/Houston, Texas hired Wanda Louise Orsak to be its on-air mascot in costume as a black cat. Mrs. Orsak was a graduate speech major with a degree from Louisiana State University. Starting out doing short on-air promotions and personal appearances for the company she soon began hosting a 30-minute broadcast and introducing cartoons for children. Next she added her friend Squeaky the mouse (a marionette) and her sidekick Nod the Silent clown to the fun. Then her little fans were invited to visit with her at the television studio. During the next decade the show had many names including Kitirik's Carnival, Carousal, Tree House and grew greatly in popularity.

In 1969, Bunny, as she was called by many close friends, started another career, establishing a successful advertising agency for years and Later opening a designer clothing resale store in the Woodlands, Texas. Finally, Bun went into semi-retirement and now lives in New Mexico with her cat (Kit) and husband.
