Krishnabhaskar Mangalasserri

Krishnabhaskar Mangalasserri (Malayalam : കൃഷ്ണഭാസ്ക്കർ മംഗലശ്ശേരി)is an Indian actor, Model, Academic, Novelist,[1] and Screenwriter who works in the Malayalam film industry. Krishnabhaskar Mangalasserri made his acting debut in the Malayalam film Puthiya Theerangal (2012) under ace director of Malayalam film industry Sathyan Anthikad and later starred in the movie American-born Confused Desi (ABCD)directed by Martin Prakkat starring Dulquer Salman and Aparna Gopinath in lead roles. He co-wrote and also enacted a leading role as a police officer in movie Asha Black with supreme star Sarath Kumar.

Early life and background

Krishnabhaskar was born in Kollam as the son of a police officer and school teacher in the year 1973, and was just another small town boy till the end of his school days. He was actively involved in schools plays and drama which got deeper into him as time progressed. By the time he was doing his Masters in Business Administration from Madurai Kamaraj University he had best actor medals and best student's medals in his kitty. Always a top student as well as a top stage performer and artist, he used to be a multitasker managing too many things at the same time.

After his MBA he started working in ad agencies in Chennai and then in Dubai during which the artiste in him took a back seat and building career and academic profile was the priority. He did his Masters in Marketing Management from the Annamalai university and PGDHRM from Pondicherry University (both via distant education) and certificate in advertising from the university of Kent during this tenure. After a successful stint as an ad professional in Lowe Worldwide and EURO RSCG he returned to Kerala and took up teaching assignment at School of communication and management studies Kochi (SCMS Kochi) in 2004 and then with ICFAI Business School (IBS Kochi) in 2007, moving to FISAT Business school in 2010. During 2003–2010 he was part of very many Advertising agencies in Kochi as an advisor and creative support and by 2010 he became more active a member in the industry.

He started modeling as one of his activities by facing the camera for brands like Musli power, Malayala Manorama, Sharon PVC pipes, Vijay Curry powder, Indaliuim galvalium roofing sheets, New India assurance company Oman and Sulthan Gold. He debuted into cinema with a cameo role in the Sathyan Anthikad film Puthiya Theerangal where he shared screen space with Nivin Pauly, Sidharth etc. Then came the film American-born Confused Desi (ABCD) directed by Martin Prakkat where he did the cameo of a college professor teaching Dulquer Salman and Jacob Gregory. He also acted in two short films – the yellow pen[2] directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, along with Aju Varghese and pradeep Kottayam and also in the awarded short film Scene contra both winning critical acclaim.

He is also the global head of Aster Volunteers from december 2016 to december 2020 in the CSR and philanthropy department of Aster DM Healthcare Dubai.

As screen writer and other activities

He co wrote[3] the Malayalam / Tamil bilingual film Ashablack as a dialogue associate and also did a full-length role as Malaysian police officer Ram sharing screen space with ace actor Sarath Kumar, Manoj K. Jayan and Devan. He cofounded Digifaktory[4] along with Sandeep varma and Gokulnath, as the first and foremost 360 degree cinema marketing company in Malayalam in the year 2014. Digifaktory handled 100% marketing of films like Monsoon mangoes, Action hero biju and Leela. Currently he works at Digifaktory as its Creative head devising marketing strategies for new and upcoming Malayalam films.

In 2019 he wrote and direct short feature film Innaleyolam, with a cast of actors sudhy kopa, shabareesh varma, sethulakshmi, sreedhanya thekkedath, baby xavier, aleppy ponnappan and master varkkichan.

In April 2016 he published his debut novel Hiranyagarbham[5](April 2016) in Malayalam via reputed publishers Current books kottayam – a division of DC Books. Now in its third edition the book has won critical acclaim and considered to be a great cinema material by most of its readers.

He was awarded Ph D in marketing communication with the topic "A study on product placements as a marketing communication strategy with special reference to tamil cinema" from MS University tirunelveli in April 2019. He is also an active member of the Rotary club of Cochin Harbour.

Sharjah International Book Fair :
Krishnabhaskar was a special invited guest at the Sharjah International Book Fair[6] 2016 where Hiranyagarbham and Krishnabhaskar Mangalasserri got a rousing reception. All the copies of the first edition were sold as readers flocked to see the author and get author signed copies of the book .
