History
Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 1 (KL MRR1) is the oldest ring road in Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia, and was built during the British colonial era. Both parts of the Federal Road 2 are Jalan Klang–Kuala Lumpur FT2 and Jalan Kuala Lumpur–Kuantan FT2 can only be connected directly after completion of the Kuala Lumpur–Petaling Jaya Traffic Dispersal Scheme which is also connection for the MRR1 in 1983. The original name for Lebuhraya Mahameru (now Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar) was Swettenham Parkway before it was renamed as Lebuhraya Mahameru. The overall KL MRR1 was completed in 1995 after the completion of the Jalan Istana interchange.[1]
The Sentul Link connects the PWTC interchange of Jalan Kuching and Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar (Lebuhraya Mahameru) to Sentul. Construction began in 2004 and was completed in mid-2006. The projects were led by Kuala Lumpur City Hall. The Sentul Link was opened to traffic on 20 July 2006.

A landslide occurred near Wisma Tani on Lebuhraya Mahameru (now Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar) which is part of Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 1 on 7 January 2014 caused a massive traffic congestion in many parts of the city.
