Larbi Batma

Laarbi Batma (or Laarbi Batma) (Arabic: العربي باطما‎; born in Chaouia; 1948 - 7 February 1997) was a Moroccan musician, poet, singer, author, actor, and the front man of the group Nass El Ghiwane. The leader was since the beginning the singer and bendir player, Omar Sayed.[1]

Education and personal life

Laarbi Batma was very much influenced by the music style of the Moussems (festivals) of his native region Abda oulad El masnaoui, he used to go to as a child.[2]

Cinema

Larbi Batma was the lead actor in the Moroccan movie "Al Naoura" (in French : "Le Jour du Forain"), directed by Driss Kettani and Abdelkrim Derkaoui. It was released in 1984.[3][1]
