Laura Duncan (American singer)

Laura Duncan was an American singer, whose performance of the song "Strange Fruit" (music and lyrics by Abe Meeropol) at Madison Square Garden in New York City in 1938. The song was given to Billie Holiday by Meeropol himself who performed a powerful rendition of the song in Cafe Society and for the rest of her career.[1][2][3]
