Leader of the Opposition (Costa Rica)
The Leader of the Opposition is the unofficial term that is generally used in Costa Rica in reference to the leader of the second largest party in the presidential ticket after an election, who is often a very influential person in the political environment. As the country has a presidential system, and not a parliamentary one, the title is purely symbolic and given by the press. It is also not always the biggest party in Parliament, nevertheless such leader is often referred to as such by the media and the political parties.[1][2][3][4]
