Lemberk Castle is a castle located in the Lusatian Mountains of the Czech Republic, near the town of Jablonné v Podještědí.[1]
Geography
It is located in the heart of the Lusatian Mountains, in the village of Lvová just west of Liberec.[2]
History
It was most likely constructed in the close of the 12th century or beginning of the 13th, by Havel of Markvartice. First major reconstruction was conducted in 16th century which gave a renaissance appearance to the castle, second one took place in the baroque period in the 17th century.[3]
Today
It has undergone baroque improvements circa 1660,[1] but today only the cylindrical tower is still standing from the original structure.[4] The castle is now state owned and accessible to public in the form of organized tours.[5]
