After investigating the death, investigators came to the conclusion he was attacked by his own dog after suffering an epileptic fit. There were extensive injuries to the body. March 1, 2019 | Colin Amatto, 40, Male | 2 American Staffordshire Terriers | Tregear, New South Wales, Australia — Victim was attacked on January 24 and sustained a significant number of injuries to his face, abdomen, and chest, and went into cardiac arrest. He was placed in an induced coma and died five weeks later. A 30-year-old woman and her 10-year-old daughter were also injured in the attack and taken to hospital with minor injuries. The dogs had a previous history of aggression including puncturing the postman's tyres. A breeding pair of adult dogs, which weighed 43–46 kilograms (95–101 lb), and one of their puppies were involved. Victim sustained broken bones, massive injuries, and died of hemorrhagic shock. The inquest jury endorsed recommendations to add the breed to the list of dangerous or restricted dog breeds, and mandate muzzling, licensing, and training.[28] |
