Mamidi Harikrishna

Mamidi Harikrishna is a Telugu poet, painter, translator, documentary filmmaker, movie critic and History Researcher on Telangana state history.[1] He is currently the director of Language & Culture department of Telangana government.[2]

Birth, early life

Harikrishna was born in Shayampet of Warangal district.[1] He did his schooling up to class X in his village. He did his Intermediate education and Degree from Lalbahadur College in Warangal, post graduation in MA in Psychology from Osmania University. He further did his MEd from Kakatiya University.[1][3]

Poetry

Harikrishna has published 3 poetry compilations of his poetry and as a director of culture deprtment, published about 5 poetry collections of various poets. He is credited of introducing "Fusion Shayaree" into Telugu poetry.[4]

Public Service

Harikrishna joined state civil services(of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh) in 1996. He was appointed in the current position, director of language and culture on 28 October 2014.[5]

Recognition

Harikrishna was awarded for the Best Film Critic on Telugu Cinema for the year 2009. He is credited for organising fifth edition of Telugu Mahasabhalu in Hyderabad in 2017. He was selected as national poet from Telugu by Sahitya Akademi in 2019.[6]
