The song impacted Christian radio on August 21, 2020 as the lead single to their debut studio album, Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1 (2020).[1] The song was written by Chandler Moore, Jonathan Jay, Nathan Jess, and Tony Brown.[2] Tony Brown collaborated with Jonathan Jay in the production of the single.

"Man of Your Word" was a commercial success, having reached No. 18 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart.[3]

Background

On July 27, 2020, Maverick City Music announced that "Man of Your Word" would be serviced to Christian radio stations in the United States as their debut single.[4] Maverick City shared the story behind the song,[1] saying:

The voices and opinions of others aren't always helpful and can often distract us if we're not careful. Every now and again we need to be reminded. For us, worshiping has always been about remembrance: remembering what God says about us, our family, our relationships, and every thing else in between. We may not always feel like it's gonna work out, but His Word tells us that it will. We are constantly reminding ourselves that Jesus is truly a 'Man of His Word', and as long as we're still breathing, He's still working.

Maverick City Music released the radio version of the song in digital format on November 6, 2020.[5]

"Man of Your Word" debuted at number 50 on the US Hot Christian Songs chart dated May 9, 2020.[7] The song fell off the chart and returned after eight weeks, at number 48.[8] The song went on to peak at number 18 on the chart.[3]

The official music video for the "Man of Your Word" was premiered on YouTube via Tribl, April 17, 2020.[9] This video was captured with the Maverick City Music Choir in Atlanta at 1971 Sounds as a part of a song share and recording night for Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1.
