Masuada Karokhi

Masuada Karokhi is an Afghan peace activist, women's rights advocate, and recipient of the N-Peace Award in 2013.

Karokhi was born 1962 in the Herat Province of Afghanistan. She graduated from the Teacher Training Institute in 1978.[1] Karokhi ran for the office of member of parliament (a member of the Lower House) for Herat twice, in 2005 and 2010.[2] She won in 2010.[3]

Karokhi worked as a teacher from 1980 through 2005. She was a member of the Executive Committee of the Department for Women’s Affairs in Herat, as well as serving as head of the Women’s Commission and the Women's Development Center of the National Participation Council of Afghanistan. She is a Master Trainer with the Afghan Women's Network (AWN).[1]

In 2013 Karokhi was one of the eight recipients of the N-Peace Award.[4][5]
