Career

Maxfields's first race was on September 14th, 2019, at Churchill Downs, where he came in first. His next race was the October 5th, 2019 Grade-1 Breeders' Futurity Stakes, where he again came in first by 5 and 1/2 lengths over Gouverneur Morris.[1] The victory qualified Maxfield for the 2019 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, but he did compete due to a leg injury.[2]

Maxfield returned on May 23rd, 2020, with a third consecutive victory, this time at the Grade-3 Matt Winn Stakes.[3] He came in as the favorite and defeated the horse Ny Traffic, by a quarter length. He had qualified for the 2020 Kentucky Derby with his two graded wins, but was pulled out due to leg injures.[4]

Maxfield returned for the December 19th, 2020 Tenacious Stakes, where he came in 1st place for the fourth consecutive race. He defeated Cool Bobby by 2 and 1/2 lengths as the favorite. [5]
