Maya Thakuri
Maya Thakuri is a Nepali female writer. She has published eight anthologies of short stories. Her stories have been translated in English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, and are a part of curriculum in various universities in India and Nepal. [2] She is also a member of Nepal Academy .[1]

She was born on July 2, 1946 in Lucknow, India. She never received formal education and could not read or write upto the age of 15. [2] She learnt to read and write by her own.[1] In 1974, she moved to permanently to Kathmandu with her husband, Damodar Sharma.[1]
She also worked as teacher in Gandaki Boarding School for 6 years.

Thakuri's stories focus on prejudices in women’s lives.[2] Her most renowned works are:
