Hunt racing really got its 1912 send-off yesterday at the meeting of the Meadow Brook Steeplechase Association at Belmont Park terminal track with more than 4,000 persons aiding in the attempt to show that the sport of Kings still had many loyal friends. Harry Payne Whitney played the part of an English country squire to perfection at his country place at Wheatley Hills yesterday, the occasion being the annual meeting of the Meadow Brook Steeplechase Association. For the farmers and their families in the vicinity Mr. Whitney provided an abundant lunch, and incidentally an opportunity to get enough out of "them city fellers" to buy all the fertilizers they will need for the coming year.
