Melu Kolupu
Melu Kolupu (transl. Awakening) is a 1978 Telugu-language drama film, produced by A. Pundarikakshaiah under the Sri Bhaskara Chitra[2] and directed by B. V. Prasad.[3] It stars N. T. Rama Rao, Jaya Prada, K. R. Vijaya and music composed by Master Venu.[4] The film is a remake of the Hindi movie Jagriti (1977).

Plot
The film begins with Dayanidhi (Nagabhushanam) and Parabrahmam (Prabhakar Reddy), petty thieves released from jail. Soon after, they pose as social workers and respectable persons. But they perpetrate many activities such as exploiting orphan children in the line of crime and women trafficking under the umbra of welfare societies. Ramu (Master Raja Krishna) and Chitti Babu (Chalam) are a few thieves among their gang. Once, Ramu meets a woman Susheela (Jaya Prada) who lives as a prostitute but protects her chastity. Ramu is affectionate towards her and takes care as his own sister. The Govt. appoints a special CID Officer Shekar (N. T. Rama Rao) to block these scandals. Once, Ramu is caught by Shekar and sends him to Juvenile home. In the home, Ramu is reformed under the guidance of school Principal Shanti Devi (K. R. Vijaya). Meanwhile, Shekar is behind Dayanidhi & Brahmam and waiting for an opportunity to catch them. In between the prison, Ramu gets out with permission to meet Susheela when Shekar follows him and recognizes Susheela as his past love who has been sold by her maternal uncle. Shekar whole-heartedly accepts Susheela and takes her along with him. Meanwhile, Ramu releases and decides to make straight the remaining people who suffer at the hands of Dayanidhi and Brahmam. So, he reenters the gang, passes on information to Shekar, transforms his gang members and enacts them as good citizens. Simultaneously, Dayanidhi's racket is about to collapse, so, he kidnaps Susheela to keep Shekar in his grip. Finally, Shekar with the help of Ramu and Shanti Devi sees the end of Dayanidhi and he is sentenced.
