Mike Reilly (politician)
Mike Reilly (May 27, 1944 – December 26, 2019) was an American politician who was first elected to the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors in November 1996 to represent the 5th Supervisor District. The 5th district encompasses the West County including the entire Sonoma County coast, the lower Russian River area, Sebastopol and the west and southwest Santa Rosa areas extending to Highway 101. He was a Democrat.
Early life
Reilly was born in Hayward, California and moved to Sonoma County in 1977.[1]
Reilly was an aide to Assemblyman Dan Hauser. For the decade prior to his election, he served as Executive Director of West County Community Services, a non-profit social services agency. He also served for thirteen years on local school boards in the West County.[2]
Board of Supervisors
Reilly was first elected to represent Sonoma County's 5th District following Ernie Carpenter's retirement from the Board in 1996.
Retirement
On May 27, 2007 Reilly announced that he would not run for reelection after completion of his third term at the end of 2008. He was succeeded by Efren Carillo of Santa Rosa, who narrowly won election to the seat in a runoff against long time Planning Commissioner Rue Furch.
