Mir Junaid
Mir Junaid (born 2 January 1991) is a writer, Kashmiri activist[2] and Indian politician based in Jammu and Kashmir. He is currently the president of the Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party.[3][4] He is also a Sarpanch in Kupwara district.[5][6][7]

Early life
Mir Junaid hails from Langate in Kupwara district of the current Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.[8] Junaid studied law at the University of Kashmir.[1] While studying, Junaid was also the 1st president of the Kashmir University Students' Association.[9]
Political career
Mir Junaid has been politically involved from a young age, being both a youth activist and youth leader locally. He has been an activist for over 14 years.
Junaid was previously a member of the National Students' Union of India, the student wing of the Indian National Congress, before leaving.[10]
He was initially and continues to be a vocal supporter of the Indian governments decision to abrogate article 370 and 35a stating, “I believe that the removal of Articles 370 and 35-A gave the people of Jammu and Kashmir a kind of liberation from political dynasts. The weaker sections of the society who are deprived will benefit from the move.”[11][12]
Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party
In 2020, he established the Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party (JKWP), a political party[13] based in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.[14]
