History
Moanalua Elementary School was founded in 1884. Sixty-six students from first through fourth grade enrolled at the elementary school. "The site of this one-room schoolhouse was on Kamehameha Highway near the site of the current Moanalua Gardens."[1]
The old site remained functional until 1961, when it was moved to the current site, located near the residential areas and by the current middle school.[1] In the 2003-2004 academic year, Moanalua Middle School celebrated its 120th anniversary of the founding at the old site. Some sixth graders volunteered to work on a Saturday and paint a mural in the cafeteria.
