Monastiraki metro station

Monastiraki (English: Little Monastery) station is an interchange station on the Athens Metro, between Lines 1 and 3.[1] The original "Monastirion" surface station on Line 1 opened on May 17, 1895. It became an interchange point of the network when the underground station of Line 3 opened on April 22, 2003. It is located in the historic center of Athens, near the neighborhood of Plaka. The station is right beneath the Acropolis and next to the site of the Ancient Agora of Athens.
