History

The church was founded in January 2000.[3][4][5][6] In addition, an average of 7,200 devices connect to online services each week. It is the second fastest-growing and fourth largest church in the SBC,[7] and the largest in South Carolina.[3] Overall, it is among the one hundred fastest-growing and largest churches in the United States[8][9][10] and it is ranked as the second fastest-growing church in the United States.[11][12]

In 2011, it formed a partnership with Freedom Church in the UK, helping to fund their church planting ventures.

On a Sunday in September 2014 2,335 people were baptized throughout their 19 South Carolina campuses.[13][14]

Announced July 10, 2016, founder Perry Noble was removed as Senior Pastor effective July 1, 2016 for personal issues related to alcohol and neglect of his family by the church's leadership team.[15]

A year later it was announced that NewSpring would be led by a team of 4 Lead Pastors (Brad Cooper, Shane Duffey, Michael Mullikin, Howard Frist) and 3 Teaching Pastors (Brad Cooper, Clayton King, Dan Lian) would share the stage on Sundays. The church also instituted a team of elders composed of a few "owners" from different NewSpring campuses. NewSpring stated in Summer 2018 that Jesus Christ was their Senior Pastor.

In addition to the church in Anderson, NewSpring's other locations in South Carolina include, Aiken, Charleston, Clemson, Columbia, Northeast Columbia, Florence, Greenville, Greenwood, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Powdersville, Rock Hill, and Spartanburg.[4][16]
