Treevolution

Nirav Shah initiated the campaign “TREEVOLUTION”, which has pledged to plant 70,000 trees across the city and make the city pollution-free and beautiful in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat – Samrudhh Bharat (Clean India). The mission is to have equivalent trees as per the city’s population. Shah claims that, by planting more trees, the levels of CO2 will decrease in the city.[8][9][10][11][12] Nirav Shah has received a 'Gujarat Book of Record' for planting 70,000 trees on PM Narendra Modi's 70th birthday.[13]

Plantable Pencil

Nirav shah is a man who always thinks about the betterment of the society and future. Recently he came up with an incredible cause “Plantable Pencil” initiated by himself in surat city which later on will be a pan India cause including 15 states and 2 UT’s. The idea of plantable pencil will eventually help the nature. Once the pencil is used or broken instead of throwing it in the garbage, we can put that pencil in plant pot which will grow into a beautiful plant. The concept of educating India with the awareness of better ecosystem is what Nirav shah thinks about. This noble cause will help more than 25000 children across Gujarat. They will get plantable pencil starting from surat to across India..[14]

Sanitary pad Drive

Sanitary Napkin initiation in Surat, now it will be in India – 15 states and 2 UT. Nirav Shah initiated the cause. In which 4000 girls from Gujarat will get Sanitary Napkin support starting from Surat with the vision of Nirav Shah..[15]His aim is to provide immediate relief for menstrual health issues faced by women who are from low-income groups in collaboration with the Live To Inspire, through the distribution of sanitary napkins. They are also educated about the best menstrual hygiene practices.COVID-19 has impacted millions of people. The worst-hit are the poor, migrants, and daily wage workers. There has been a surge in cases & the situation will only get worse before it gets better. For girls and women from financially weak backgrounds, the issue is compounded by the inaccessibility of menstrual hygiene measures. While we take menstrual hygiene for granted, it is a luxury for them.[16]

Political career

Nirav Shah was appointed as chairman of the standing committee of Surat Municipal Corporation in July 2014.[17] He was elected as deputy mayor of SMC in June 2018.[18][19][20] Media outlets credited him for celebrating meatless day on 25 December 2018 — the day when SMC had decided to close their butcher houses for a day.[21]

Controversy

During the 2020 coronavirus lockdown in India, Nirav Shah allegedly broke the rules of the government imposed lockdown and did not practise social distancing while meeting Jain monks for relief work of animals. A First Information Report was filed against him for violating section 144 of IPC, which prohibits meeting more than 4 persons at one place.[22][23][24][25]
