Life

Sundström was born in Falun, Dalarna County, Sweden. During his youth, Sundström played in black and death metal bands.[3] A four-person in which he played became more professional when Joakim Brodén joined, originally as keyboardist and then lead vocalist.[4] In 1999, he founded Aeon with Brodén, Oskar Montelius, Rikard Sundén and Richard Larsson. This band was soon renamed "Sabaton" by Brodén. Concerning his role in Sabaton he stated in an interview with metalheadspotted.com: "I do not practice a lot. I make sure I know all the Sabaton tunes but that[']s about it. My job is not just to play bass. I do a lot of stuff that is necessary for the band as manager."[2]

Before Sabaton became a professional band, Sundström worked for five years "as a manager of a big company". His management office as well as the band's studio are based in Falun.[5]

Sundström is childless and has one sister.[2] His main musical influences are Twisted Sister, especially Dee Snider, as well as Johann Sebastian Bach and Skid Row.[6][5] He speaks of Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Guns N' Roses, Raubtier, Skid Row and Sabaton as his favourite bands.[1] In the early years of Sabaton, Sundström set up the pyrotechnics for the Sabaton live shows by himself, as he is a trained pyrotechnician.[7]
