Pulotu
Pulotu is the resting place of those passed on in the Polynesian narrative of Tonga and Samoa, the world of darkness "lalo fonua" (as opposed to the human world of light).
Tonga
In Tongan mythology, Pulotu is presided over by Havea Hikuleʻo. In Tongan cosmology the sky, the sea, and Pulotu existed from the beginning, and the gods lived there. The first land they made for the people was Touiaʻifutuna (trapped in Futuna), which was only a rock. There are suggestions that for Tonga and Samoa, Pulotu refers to a real country, in fact Matuku Island in the Lau Islands. However there is no signs of underwater civilization in the Matuku waters where they said that Burotu was located.
Old Fijians who knows the legendary stories about Burotu knows that whenever attempts were made to reach Burotu,it kept on drifting away.No wonder they can't find any underwater signs of civilization in Matuku or Yasa2 Moala compared to Vuniivilevu(Vanuakula/Vanuayalewa, Vunilagi now known as Davetalevu at South Moturiki in the Lomaiviti group.Which still has its own Spiritual guardian cherub who normally shows up in dark nights to assist local Moturiki boat captains who lost their ways in an around Vuniivilevu sacred seafield. And loads of evidences(house mounds, walls, lines of big water jars,a big gate) in its underwater, broken potteries around its reefs on Cakaukoula nd on Moturiki island itself.Which brought to light the Tongan mythology which says that the sea, heaven nd Pulotu all existed from the beginning. As we all know the Spiritual Guardian Cherub which God put on the east of Eden garden to guard the way to the tree of life(Genesis 3:24).But the Eden location was separated further away from the 4 rivers mentioned in Genesis 2:10-14 because the earth(supercontinent) was divided during Pelegs time(Genesis 10:25)..We need to look at this Eden Biblical story on a flat earth which is mentioned in numerous Bible verses, one of them famous ones is in the book of Job.God says to Job,"where were you when I drew a line across the surface of the earth.".Now,the word surface can only be used to something which is flat.So we need to throw the thought of the white supremacists spherical shape (ball shape) earth out of the window.
And the Biblical verses about Eden gardens location in 2 Peter 3:6; Isaiah 51:3; Genesis 2:8; Psalm 50:1 can be summarised in a sentence.Which says that Eden garden is located in the Oceanic Wilderness of the east of the earth where the sunrises and sunsets. We know that the Sunrises first in Fiji nd sets first in Fiji everyday.Even the Tongan nd Samoan traditional compass says that their Tokalau(east) is Fiji..isnt that a mystery to man,but a fact to God alone?..That sacred seafield in Moturiki got its own mysterious stories. One of them stories, mentioned "Tamanaivi",2 people (a male nd a female) known in a name(first Fijian parents),Whom were later chased by God from the garden for eating the sacred fruit that was prohibited to be the first offering to God alone. Tonga and Samoa would have been vassals or tributary confederates of the Tuʻi Pulotu network in Fiji, which was in turn overshadowed by the Tui Manu'a confederacy of Samoa (which was overturned by the Tu'i Tonga dynasty of Tonga).
Archaeological evidence of the reconstructed Poly looked woman's face found in Moturiki also proved that one of the Fijian verbal history is also true, about the three different physical characteristics of people lived in Fiji in ancient times. One looked like the Fijians or Melanesians of today,2nd ones looked like the Tongans/Samoans/Polys,native Americans nd Micronesians of today nd the third ones looked like the white skinned Rotumans nd Indo Europeans of Greeks,Italians.Albino(Europeans)..etc)..
After the independence struggle by Hikuleʻo and his cousins Maui Motuʻa and Tangaloa ʻEiki, they renamed Touiaʻifutuna into Tongamamaʻo. Only after that the other islands were made (the volcanic islands by Hikuleʻo and the coral islands by Maui). Finally Tongamamaʻo was renamed, for the last time, as Tonga.
Hikuleʻo is supposed to have married a daughter of Tangaloa ʻEiki.
Samoa
In the mythology of Samoa, Pulotu is presided over by the god Saveasi'uleo (also referred to as Elo), whose name reveals a similarity to the Tongan god Havea Hikuleʻo. Saveasi'uleo is the father of Nafanua the Goddess of War in Samoa, from the village of Falealupo, the site of the entryway into Pulotu.[1]
