QAGOMA

QAGOMA is the organisation which operates the two state art museums in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.[1]

History

The Queensland Art Gallery was established in 1895 in the former Brisbane Town Hall in Queen Street. After a number of moves, it acquired its first purpose-built building on Stanley Street, South Brisbane in 1982. Another building on Stanley Street was constructed to house its Gallery of Modern Art; it opened in 2006.[1] The buildings are part of the Queensland Cultural Centre precinct.
